Snowy Monday Morning Magic as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service! Kindergarten wins the on time award (again…punctuality wins you donuts!) And one birthday boy this week! 🎂 Virtue Awards: Mrs. Tell honors Aidan for PRUDENCE for always keeping on top of his schoolwork, and since it's the end of the marking period, Miss Knipp awards PRUDENCE to Lilli and Liam for having the highest average in math! Mrs. Pearson overheard Shawn and Piper continuing their after-lunch Rosary prayers on the way down to return the lunch bins, and recognized them for their FAITH. Welcome Pre-K as we watched a video about Dr. King, and then his “I Have a Dream” speech, delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963. Then in our groups, we wrote an acrostic poem with the word DREAM, describing how we can take action to make a difference in the lives of others. Then we assembled care bags with toiletries and snacks for people in need. Thanks to our family of SAINTS who donated items --we were able to assemble almost 500 bags! These bags will be donated to the Cathedral Kitchen for them to distribute to their patrons. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Speech - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP4iY1TtS3s "Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children." #MLKDayOfService #SouthJerseyCatholicSchools

Our SPS Saints learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today! Students gathered in small groups (PreK through 8th grade) in the gym to create amazing acrostic poems, representing Dr. King's ideals and their commitments to make the world a better place.

Back for Monday Morning Magic January 13! 7th grade wins the on time award, and we celebrated two weeks of birthdays due to Monday's snow day! Ms. Weed honors Zara for CHARITY, for picking up trash in the classroom. Mrs. Rotondi recognized Iris for her FAITH, for acknowledging the sound of a siren with the sign of the cross, praying that everyone involved is guided by God. (And her quiet leadership has led her classmates to follow suit!) And Miss Campanell awarded Mrs. Nicholls with an award for CHARITY too, for giving 5th grade a second chance at Art after their regularly scheduled art class was canceled due to snow :) Saints Circles: In 2025, Catholics all around the world are celebrating the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation of Christ. This Jubilee is celebrated every 25 years. Pope Francis calls us to be Jubilee Pilgrims of Hope! We will be participating in this jubilee all year. In our groups we discussed 3 characteristics of the Jubilee Year: Prayer, Pilgrimage, and Service. Prayer - How can we pray more. How can we pray for and with others? - Asking God questions - Going to confession - Reading the Bible - Preparing for Mass Pilgrimage - Where are some places we can go to pray? - Praying outside in nature - Praying at the adoration chapel - Visiting holy places Service - How can we help people who are experiencing hardships? - Collecting money for the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowls - Donating items and money to the California Fires - Donate to victims of abuse - Community service by picking up trash around town - Donating to a food drive We'll have more Jubilee activities throughout the year, as a school, parish and Diocese. you can learn more about the Jubilee on the Vatican's official website, here: https://www.iubilaeum2025.va/en/giubileo-2025/segni-del-giubileo.html And now we're taking a pilgrimage back to school to start our week! Let's have a great week, SPS fam! #SouthJerseyCatholicSchools

Mass Friday, January 10, with leadership from 5th grade. "Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, "I do will it. Be made clean." And the disease left him immediately. #SouthJerseyCatholicSchools

#TBT to last November when Fr. Sinatra of Holy Child Parish, Mrs. O'Callaghan's brother and St. Peter alum came to talk to our students about vocations! What are you called to? Who does God want you to be? Right now we’re students…but our vocation will change…..single, married, or called to serve the church as a priest, deacon, or religious life. Dear Lord, help me be the best person I can be today. #SouthJerseyCatholicSchools

Final Monday Morning Magic of 2024! Celebrating all the birthdays through the end of the year...including one Christmas and two New Years' Day babies! 🎂🎄🎊 Virtue Awards: Mrs. Hall honors 2nd grader Joey for his FAITH, for creating a spiritual bouquet for her daughter 🙏🏼 And Miss Marrazzo gives an award for PRUDENCE to Aubrey, for getting the highest score on the 8th grade social studies test, and for always offering to help out where needed. (And for always making her laugh!) Saints Circles: in the third week of Lent, we celebrate JOY! Happiness is temporary. JOY is what Jesus puts in our hearts. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. How can we show joy & love this Advent Season? - Spending time with family - Visiting people who need - Inviting a friend to church - Sharing God’s love with others - Giving things to people who need them—toys, clothes, food - Saying "I Love You" to your parents ❤️ - Praying for family and friends And with that, 5 days of school and 10 days of Christmas left! Let's make a faith-filled, JOYFUL week! #SouthJerseyCatholicSchools
