STEM at St. Peter School
Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics

St. Peter School is very proud to have an outstanding STEM program that it is truly distinguished among private and other local Catholic schools.
Every student has both STEM and Technology once per week - including pre-school! Pre-K STEM incorporates creative thinking, building, and spatial awareness. Middle School Tech progresses to web design principles and coding languages in 8th grade. Students begin to learn the responsibilities of Digital Citizenship beginning in 3rd grade.
Several St. Peter School alumni have gone on to attend local technical schools for engineering and computer science.

The Objectives of our Program:
Solve real world problems with the Engineering Design Process using 21st Century skills
Create a collaborative environment where students work together to solve challenges
Lower elementary classes are literacy-based challenges
Upper Elementary classes build design skills to culminate to the Google Science Fair
Incorporate our Catholic faith and virtues into all we do for the greater good and the glory of God
STEM @ SPS in the News:
STEM and Technology teacher, Jennifer Marisi, speaking on the "Talking Catholic" Podcast about St. Peter's STREAM program.
Mrs. Marisi's article for the Catholic Star Herald regarding the role of technology in Catholic School curriculum.
Mrs. Marisi was named a Teacher Ambassador for the Smithsonian's Network for Emergent Socio-Scientific Thinking (NESST) for the 2024-2025 school year! She will be working with other teachers from across the country to help reimagine education for life on a sustainable planet.
And be sure to check out our student-run website and podcast! These are compiled through our weekly "Middle School Special" - a noncredit class Middle Schoolers rotate through each quarter, focusing on life skills and personal development.
