Tuition Rates for 2019-2020
With transparency we can reasonably manage Catholic school tuition.
At St. Peter, we feel we have a great approach to addressing the challenge of Catholic school tuition. St. Peter School offers two options for addressing tuition costs for our families. The first option is our Fixed Tuition Rate Plan, with eligibility for certain discounts for baptized Catholics and multiple children. We adjust this rate annually, and we calculate the rate in relation to the Actual Cost of Education (ACE). This figure reflects the per pupil cost calculated in the prior year’s budget. The fixed tuition rates are always lower than the ACE rate because parish subsidies and local fundraisers offset these costs. Those who pay the fixed rate can do so in a streamlined manner without any financial data verification. Those interested in our rates may call the school to arrange a meeting with the principal or admissions coordinator to tour the school and discuss your options.
Another option for Catholic school tuition for those in need
The second tuition option is our Variable Tuition Rate Option. With this plan, families can work with school leaders to design a catholic school tuition rate that hopefully works for them. Those who opt for the Variable Tuition Rate Plan must apply through a third party manager called FACTS. Through FACTS, applicants submit financial data such as prior year’s tax statements, W-2’s, 1099’s and other important information in order to fairly assess financial need. After this step, school leaders- including the Pastor- will make a recommendation regarding the tuition rate. We ask returning families to apply for this option no later than January 31st in a given school year. New families seeking this option may complete an application on a rolling basis. However, a few general principles guide our Variable Tuition Rate Plan.
Our process for new families seeking this option is as follows:
- First, initial consultation with principal regarding financial concerns
- Next, apply for the variable option through FACTS (click here)
- Third, review of application by school leaders
- Last, final phone conference or conference to discuss proposed tuition rate and additional considerations
Our principles which govern the Variable Tuition Rate
- We set Variable Tuition Rates on a yearly basis; families must apply each year through FACTS (click here to learn more).
- All families who apply for the Variable Tuition Rate will pay some tuition- tuition rates will never be reduced to $0.
- We give preference to parishioners of St. Peter, practicing Catholics, and larger Catholic families with demonstrable need.
- Based on information in application or other factors, we reserve the right to decline the proposed variable rate from applicants and impose the fixed rate tuition scale.
- Except in unique circumstances, we ask all applicants to be up-to-date with current tuition if they applying for the Variable Tuition Rate.
- We will finalize Variable Tuition Rates once we verify the payment of registration fees for the applicant family.
The chart below summarizes important differences between our two Catholic school tuition plans. Additionally, you can click here to begin the application process (note that FACTS charges a $20 fee for this service).

The value of a truly Catholic education cannot be overstated. It’s money wisely spent. Your child’s tuition is an investment which pays lifelong tangible and intangible dividends. In the present climate, in the state of NJ, we recognize that there are some real challenges to affordability for families that pay high property taxes and/or rent. These factors are taken into consideration when one applies through the Variable Tuition Option. However, at the end of the day, it is important to realize that Catholic education, like all aspects of our faith, requires some level of sacrifice. We have found that families who value a truly Catholic education are willing to make a certain level of sacrifice and experience all the joys and blessings that come with that act of trust.
Additionally, Catholic Schools represent excellence; there is an emphasis on efficiency and accountability in our school and an unwavering commitment to our school Mission, which is to “teach, model, and nurture Gospel values within the Catholic intellectual tradition.” In addition to a strong program in the “basics,” as well as challenging programs for gifted students, St. Peter emphasizes a well-rounded virtue based educational program with emphasis on a Catholic worldview, leading a life of virtue, and building an academic community that is liturgically centered. Simply put, we cannot put a price tag on this! We hope for the day when parents are truly free, spiritually and economically, to redirect tax dollars to the kind of education that they would like their children to receive, rather than what is imposed upon them by state and federal mandates. We pray for that day!
